The Ship's Hatch Table at Home!

This is how the table from our last blog post looks at home....  It's great how the the ends of the table match the legs that Jeff forged!

Forging Legs for a Ship's Hatch Table Top

One of the great things about demo'ing is getting to meet people and hear about the projects that they'd love to see forged.  Sometimes, Jeff can help them out.  We get to do all sorts of things we wouldn't have imagined!  Recently, Jeff forged legs for a ship's hatch table-top.  It was quite an endeavor for his little forge, but he was pleased with the results.  We delivered the table-legs over to their owner at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm's May Market Fair.  We can't wait to see the legs attached to the table-top!

A Wonderful Weekend at May Market Fair at Claude Moore Colonial Farm

As always, we had a great time at the May Market Fair at Claude Moore Colonial Farm.   We set up two anvils, as well as the "kid-friendly" anvil with aluminum that bends without being heated, and enjoyed a weekend of teaching and visiting....plus, good food, a chance to see some wonderful artists in action, and even Florence the sheep who was set up in a pen next to us!  Claude Moore is a special event and we look forward to July's fair on the 19th and 20th.

The Wye Colonial Fair -- Always Enjoyable!

We had a lovely day at the Wye Colonial May Fair, held on the beautiful grounds of the Old Wye Church in Wye Mills, Maryland.  It's the type of event where you find yourself smiling all day.  The people are so friendly and everyone is so happy to be a part of such a special church festival.

This was our 3rd year at the fair.   We were happy to be back, to see our friends and make new ones.

We forged, of course! And, tried out a new forge (unfortunately, the handle on the bellows broke when we were loading it up after the fair):

We had our "family-friendly" anvil set up, as usual, with aluminum that bends without being heated:

We visited the petting zoo, an ever-popular place:

The May Pole was a site of great fun:

Our dog was even blessed at the Blessing of the Animals Service:

And, Jeff taught in the later afternoon hours when the fair's pace had slowed down and there was time for talking and teaching.  Jeff really loves to teach:

Another special Wye Colonial May Fair!
